October 14 was a pleasant fall day to have a wedding this year. After walking in and saying “hi” to the bride and groom, I began shooting. The first thing I came across sent a big smile across my face! The bridesmaids were playing Barbies with the flower girls! They had a big box of Barbie clothes, and they sat there changing the Barbie’s outfits to their hearts content! If I wasn’t working I would have joined them, but I did the next best thing: I got footage of the action (see video below)!
Next I shot the groom and his men. The room smelled deliciously of fried chicken and cologne making my mouth water. Groom Daniel had a four page letter he had written to his bride. I was the honored gopher and brought the letter to Caroline who exclaimed, “Look how long his letter is! Mine isn’t this long!” The concerned bride was soon encouraged that one page was fine, and her look of concern soon turned into gentle teardrops, smiles, and giggles (see video below).
One of my favorite moments was when the mother of the groom commented on the flower in my hair. I had completely forgotten about it! My daughter had placed a dandelion flower from our yard in my hair just before I left. I so treasured this little act of kindness that I couldn’t bring myself to take it out. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture before the dandelion fell out of my hair and was lost. :'( As it turns out, the little yellow flower matched the flower theme of the wedding! Fall-colored bouquets and boutonnieres particularly in the yellow and orange hues stole the show against modest navy bridesmaids dresses and navy suits.
The church wedding was simple and sweet. Caroline was so innocent and excited as husband and wife’s first kiss was announced (see video below)!
