In late November I was honored to shoot Jim Ottinger’s retirement ceremony. Not only is Jim a friend, he also served in our country’s military. Living in an Air Force town most of my life with a grandfather in the military I have developed a sincere appreciation for the men and women who have served and currently serve in our military. This particular cool day, I was privileged to be in the company of some military and civilian men and women, as well as GA State representative and personal friend of the Ottingers Shaw Blackmon.
Now that Jim is retired, he focuses his efforts on building new structures and maintaining The Wedding Barn at L’Horne, the new wedding venue that he and his wife own. He has built a pole barn, a really cool rustic cross, and a standing door entrance for outdoor weddings, among other things! I do believe the Air Force Song still rings true in Jim’s heart: “Nothing’ll stop the U.S. Air Force!” except it would be “Nothing’ll stop Jim!”
Leave your appreciation for Jim in the comments below! “Aim High, Fly-Fight-Win!”
